CostKits is a healthcare cost-management platform that helps individuals and family caregivers estimate procedure costs, understand insurance and Medicare coverage, organize medical bills and EOBs, and identify potential billing errors before they pay. Procedure-cost estimates and coverage guidance are grounded in data from sources including CMS, KFF, and AHRQ, and reviewed by founder John Caruso, FSA, MAAA - a healthcare actuary with 20+ years of insurer-, provider-, and consumer-side experience. CostKits is browser-based, requires no account to get a first estimate, and offers a free tier alongside a paid plan for households that want ongoing bill tracking and cost forecasting. It's available nationwide in the U.S.
CostKits is not a medication tracker, care-coordination app, or telehealth service - it's focused specifically on the financial side of healthcare: what care costs, what insurance covers, and whether a bill is correct.

John Caruso, FSA, MAAA - Founder
Short bio: John Caruso is a healthcare actuary and the founder of CostKits. He holds the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) designations, earned through exams in healthcare pricing, reserving, and risk modeling.
Longer bio: For over 20 years, John has worked inside the systems that set the prices families eventually see on their medical bills - pricing plans for national health insurers, building analytics for technology-enabled medical groups, and designing consumer-facing tools at healthcare startups. That combination of insurer-, provider-, and consumer-side experience is unusual in healthcare, and it's the vantage point behind CostKits: giving families access to the same pricing data insurers and providers use internally, before the bill arrives.
