Effective Date: October 29, 2026
1. Information We Collect
Cost Kits, a limited liability company based in Connecticut, collects information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, use our services, or contact us for support.

We may collect personal information including:
- Name and contact information (email address, phone number)
- Account credentials and preferences
- Medical bill information you choose to upload or analyze
- Payment and billing information
- Communications with our support team
- Email engagement, such as whether you open an email from us and which links you click
2. How We Use Your Information

- Provide, maintain, and improve our medical bill analysis services
- Process transactions and send related information
- Send technical notices, updates, security alerts, and support messages
- Respond to your comments, questions, and customer service requests
- Develop new products and services
- Create de-identified data from the medical bills you submit (with your name, account numbers and other direct identifiers removed) and use it in our product and marketing, for example to show typical prices and billing patterns
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties without your consent, except as described in this policy:
Service Providers
We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as payment processing, data analysis, and customer service.
De-identified Information
We may share or publish de-identified and aggregated information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. We do not sell your personal information.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Our services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Using CostKits Through AI Assistants (ChatGPT, Claude and Others)
CostKits offers tools that AI assistants can call on your behalf, such as procedure cost estimates, out-of-pocket calculations and a hospital financial assistance screen. You do not need an account to use them.
- What the tools receive: only what the assistant sends for the question you asked, such as a procedure name, a state, plan cost-sharing figures (deductible, coinsurance), and, for the financial assistance screen, your household size, annual household income and optionally your state.
- What we do not collect: we do not ask for or want your name, date of birth, member or account numbers, diagnoses, or medical records through these tools. Please do not include them.
- What we keep: household size and income are used only to calculate the answer in that request. We do not store them, and we do not write them to our logs or to the links we return. We keep a minimal technical log (time, which tool was called, whether it succeeded, response time, request size, the type of client making the request and, where applicable, the procedure and state) to run and improve the service, and we do not link it to an identity.
- What the assistant provider sees: your conversation with the assistant is governed by that provider's own privacy policy, not this one.
- Links: answers may include a link to a CostKits page. Visiting costkits.com is covered by the rest of this policy, and the link carries only a source tag and, where relevant, a procedure and state. It never carries amounts.
- Not advice: these tools give general information and estimates. They are not medical, legal, tax or financial advice, and they do not decide whether you qualify for any program.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the effective date.
