For hospital staff: corrections and context
If a number for your hospital is wrong, a procedure you publish was missed, or the file we read is out of date, email providers@costkits.com. Include the hospital name, state, the procedure (CPT code) and, if you can, a link to the correct file. We check it against the source file, fix our data if it is our error, and add a note where a hospital does not offer the service.

Medians across each state's hospitals. Select a state to filter the lookup above. States with fewer than 10 hospitals are marked small. * Few or no commercial insurer rates are listed for the typical hospital in this state's files. Maryland, for example, sets hospital rates under a statewide system. Read these as a limit of what the files contain, not as a ranking of hospitals.

How to read this
For each hospital we check 64 common procedures (the same set used across the Learn tools). A procedure counts as found when the hospital's published price file has at least one usable price for any of its CPT codes: a cash price, or a commercial insurer rate. Prices are cleaned the same way as in the other tools (see the methodology).
What this does and does not tell you
- It is a count of what appears in our dataset. It is not a legal compliance rating and does not say a hospital meets or breaks federal price transparency rules.
- A hospital that does not offer a procedure, such as a small hospital without an MRI or a childbirth unit, will show it as not found.
- Our matching can miss a file or a code. About 2% of price files could not be matched to a facility, and those hospitals do not appear. Tell us at providers@costkits.com.
- Files change. This reflects the October 2026 files.
Common questions
What does this page measure?
For each hospital it counts how many of 64 common procedures have a usable price in the hospital's published price file, one count for cash prices and one for commercial insurer rates. A procedure counts as found when any of its CPT codes has a price after CostKits cleans the data. It is a measure of what appears in our dataset, not a legal compliance rating.
Is this a federal compliance rating?
No. It does not say whether a hospital meets or breaks the federal hospital price transparency rule. Enforcement is handled by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. A hospital can show few procedures here because it does not offer them, because it lists prices another way, or because our matching missed a code.
How many procedures does the typical hospital publish?
Across 4,566 hospitals in the October 2026 data, the typical hospital has a usable cash price for 35 of 64 common procedures and a commercial insurer rate for 48. By state, the typical hospital in Vermont has the most found (55 cash, 50 insurer) among states with 10+ hospitals, and the typical hospital in Maryland the fewest (24 cash, 0 insurer).
Why does my hospital show procedures as not found?
Usually one of four reasons: the hospital does not offer the procedure, its price file lists the service under a different code or a bundled package, the price failed our cleaning checks (for example a placeholder value), or our matching missed it. If you think a number is wrong, email providers@costkits.com with the hospital, state and procedure and we will check the source file.
How can a hospital request a correction?
Email providers@costkits.com with the hospital name, state, the procedure or CPT code, and a link to the correct file if possible. We check it against the source file, correct our data where it is our error, and note where a hospital does not offer a service.
Where does the data come from?
Federal rules require hospitals to post a machine-readable file of prices. CostKits reads those files every month and matches each price to a standard procedure (CPT) code. This page uses the October 2026 files. See the methodology page for how prices are cleaned.
